Certificate of Authenticity & Authenticity Guarantee
Last updated:
In short. When we issue one, a gemstone comes with a Marianovich Gemstone Report — our Certificate of Authenticity. We stand behind the facts it states with a full-refund Authenticity Guarantee. Geographic origin and color are expert opinions, not guarantees.
1. What this certificate is
Each Marianovich Gemstone Report is a Certificate of Authenticity prepared in-house by Marianovich Gems’ staff gemologist, reflecting our professional examination of the specific gemstone identified by its report number. It is not an independent, third-party, or accredited-laboratory report (such as GIA, AGA, SSEF, or Gübelin). We stand behind it directly through the Authenticity Guarantee below.
2. Our Authenticity Guarantee
We guarantee that these statements on the certificate are accurate:
- the gemstone’s identity (species/mineral and variety);
- whether it is natural or laboratory-grown/synthetic; and
- any treatment or enhancement — we disclose treatments known to us and detectable by standard gemological testing.
If a reputable independent accredited gemological laboratory determines that any of these guaranteed statements was materially inaccurate for the stone as sold, you are entitled to a full refund of the purchase price. Because your satisfaction is our priority, we will gladly discuss an alternative you may prefer — exchange, store credit, or a partial adjustment. A full refund is the guaranteed minimum. Our guarantee on identity and natural-vs-synthetic is for the life of the stone; treatment disclosure is guaranteed for one year from purchase.
3. What is expert opinion, not a guarantee
- Geographic origin — an expert opinion based on a collection of observations and analytic data; reputable laboratories may reasonably differ.
- Color — described subjectively and varies with lighting and viewing conditions; the gemologist’s written comment governs.
These are excluded from the Section 2 refund guarantee.
4. Making a claim
Contact us through the support form with your report number. The gemstone must be the same, unaltered stone we sold, verifiable against the report and our verification record. For a disputed Section 2 statement we may ask for a report from a recognized independent laboratory; if that lab confirms the discrepancy, we reimburse its reasonable fee on top of your remedy; if it confirms our certificate, the testing cost is yours. The authenticity code printed on your signed Original helps us confirm you received the certified stone.
5. Not an appraisal
The certificate identifies and describes the gemstone; it states no monetary value and is not an appraisal. Do not rely on it for insurance, resale, investment, loan-collateral, or tax valuation.
6. Digital facsimile vs. signed original
The online and downloadable versions are a facsimile for reference, marked as such; the signed printed Original controls in any discrepancy. The verification page confirms a report of that number was issued by Marianovich Gems — it does not by itself confirm a stone presented by a third party is the stone described.
7. General
Nothing here excludes any liability or right that cannot be excluded under applicable law; where a provision isn’t permitted in your jurisdiction, the rest still applies. See also our Terms of Service.
